Lady Captains Marguerite Hughes Prize 18th July ’15

On Saturday 18th July 2015 the Lady Captain’s Marguerite Hughes Prize was held in Mountbellew Golf Club.
Despite inclement weather a great day and night was had by all who played and attended the presentation of prizes. Everyone who spoke congratulated Marguerite for organising such a great day and night.

News from Junior Golf

The Junior Cup team traveled to Athlone on Saturday 11th July. Despite great scoring in terrible conditions they sadly finished just outside the top 8 teams.

The Juniors Boys and Girls 9 holes re-entry continues through July and August.
The Lady Captain’s Prize to the Junior Girls takes place on Tuesday 14th July. Girls are asked to be at the clubhouse before 11.30 am.
Boys 18 holes competition goes ahead on Tuesday 14th and they are asked to be at club before 11am.The SAME times apply on Thursday 16th for the Boys and Girls 18 holes stableford competition.
Congratulations to Emma Morrow and Katie Coleman who finished in 2nd and third places respectively at The WEE-WONDERS Golf Skills Challenge in Co. Sligo Golf Club on Sunday 12th July.
The Connacht Junior Close Championships Qualifier takes place in Loughrea on Tuesday 21st July. Best of luck to David Kitt, Darragh Nolan, Adam Challoner, Ryan Nolan, Aodan Kelly and Luke Cunningham who are representing the club in this event.

Upcoming Open Weekend 6th & 7th June

An Open Weekend will take place on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June. It is kindly sponsored the always supportive Noel and Breda Flesk. Visitors e10. Timesheet .

The ladies charity event for the Crumlin Children’s Hospital continues for the week of 04/05/15.

 

The men’s 3ts Charity Event starts on Monday 4th May and continues until Thursday 7th May. 18 holes stableford. Members are requested to support this worthy charity.

Wednesday 15th April:??Aine Binchy from ILGU will be giving a presentation on the Rules of Golf??at 7pm in the clubhouse. All Men, Ladies, Boys and Girls are invited to attend.

On 1st April another 9 holes re-entry competition starts in aid of a defibrillator.
Note Men & Ladies play holes 10 to 18. Competition continues for the month.

Captains Drive-In and Latest News

On Sunday 8th March our Captains, Noel Coen and Marguerite Hughes along with our President Peter Donnellan held their Drive-In. A great crowd gathered at the club for one of the highlights in the club’s calendar. All who attended had a thoroughly enjoyable day. The 3 ball scramble competition was won by Billy Hyland, Mary Hyland and Mary Costello. Noel Coen then made special presentations ??to Basil King and Martin Burke who had each scored hole in ones. All winners of the January and February Lady competitions were presented with their prizes by our Lady Captain, Marguerite Hughes. The club wishes to thank all the sponsors along with the ladies who provided food on the day for their generosity. The 50/50 Draw was won by Dympna O’Brien.

Defibrillator Fundraiser

For the month of March a special 9 holes stableford (re-entry) competition for Men and Ladies will be run in the club. It is hoped to purchase a defibrillator for our club from the proceeds. ???5 entry ???3 Re-entry. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Drive – In and Fun Quiz Results!

The Captains & President’s Drive-In has been deferred until Sunday March 8th.
A 3 Ball Scramble will be held on Friday 6th, Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th March.
The Drive-In and Photos will take place at 5pm on Sunday.
For those who have paid their membership in full or who have made direct debit arrangements on/or before Sunday 8th March a special draw will be held after the Drive-In. The winner will receive half their membership.
Our Fun Quiz Final was held on Friday 27th February. Eleven teams qualified for this enjoyable event. The 4Cs led by Joe Clarke, held out to win from Charlie’s Angels led by Jim Grogan. The Lenten Louts led by Tomas Cunningham came a very close third. The club wishes to thank most sincerely both Martie and Dominica Healy for organising the quiz. A special presentation was made to them by our Captains Noel Coen and Marguerite Hughes.
